hey baby, let's go to vegas

We leave early tomorrow morning for a long weekend, Las Vegas-style. My brother is getting married there this weekend, and although I don't think that Elvis will be officiating, I do get the added bonus of seeing my beautiful niece, pictured here with her proud (but camera shy) papa.

I've kind of always wanted to *see* Vegas, and this is pretty much the best excuse in the world. I don't have any set plans, except for some serious frolicking around in vintage dresses and bathing suits. And oh yeah - the Pinball Hall of Fame.

I'm sure there will be loads of pictures and stories, see you next week!

stu-stu-studio

J came with me to the studio on Sunday, to take some shots of me in action, plugging away at some new prints. He took some of them with his fancy new iPhone, and I love how they turned out. These are a few of my favorites.

yo yo yo

This was my entry for the annual "Machine Wash Cold Tumble Dry Low" design contest, held by a local screenprinting studio, Moniker Designs. They publicized the winners yesterday, and I'm excited to report that my shirt was one of the winning designs!

I'm a big fan of Moniker (and their amazing space in the Red Bird Studios). They're awesome, and I'm thrilled to be a part of this year's collection. I can't wait to see what the other designs are like - there's some solid talent in this town.

crazy horse

I found this little guy while walking to my studio the other day. Neat-o.

I like the excellent use of those ridiculously durable Fisher Price toys that we all grew up with. They just don't make them like they used to.

quick thrift

I usually hit up a few local thrift and charity shops on Fridays, looking for interesting fabrics and other neat-o stuff.

I found these three mugs today, and it's a good thing I like coffee and tea, because my mug collection is getting a bit out of control.

I can't wait until we move this summer, so I can finally invest in some sort of proper display cabinet for them.

The super early spring we're having has got me thinking about the upcoming summer and garage sales. I actually spotted one today - it was pretty junky, but still! The season has officially opened! Bring. It. On.

I think this will have to be the year that I finally invest in a wagon.

la black watch

It seems that every year around this time, I manage to sufficiently injure a knee, rendering me useless. These injuries also tend to occur at the exact moment when the weather takes a significant turn for the better, and I want to be out there every day running like a mad woman.

Running has become like meditation for me, and when I can't do it, I get stir-crazy and really grumpy. I'm hoping that a week of anti-inflammatory meds and rest will do the trick, god help my sanity.

So, what does one do when she can't run? Why, she drinks beer, of course.

Montreal is blessed with a plethora of fantastic microbreweries, much to my luck. We tried some of the new beer from Les Brasseurs de Montréal this past weekend, and I've been telling anyone who will listen that they should do the same.

Personally, I'm a big fan of La Black Watch, a brown Scottish-influenced ale. It has a subtle (but definitely not overly sweet) butterscotch flavor, and is wonderfully drinkable. But maybe that's the Scot in me talking. La London Ruby is also pretty great.

La Chi Orientale
is the only one that's a bit bizarre - as my friend put, it's sort of like drinking sushi. It's a daring flavour, but really over the top. I'm curious how the masses feel about it...

If you live in the Montreal area and have a hankering for a pint, I definitely recommend checking them out.

coucou salut + Elle magazine

Well, well, well, someone has stars in his eyes. Look who made it into the Elle Quebec April 2010 issue!

That's one of my little cheese monsters there on the table, chillin'. No big deal. Apparently he happened to be lying around Château Hutchinson, and appears in the background of a beautiful spring fashion shoot.

Thanks to LeVicomte for letting me know!
